Why am I getting traffic from China via Google search?

I examined Search Console and discovered that my website is being found in Google search results by users from China. Some have clicked on my link. However, I am unsure of their identity. If they were from Hong Kong or Macau, the correct location names would be displayed. Could they be tourists?

It’s quite possible that the traffic is from Chinese tourists. China has a large and growing population of tourists who travel abroad, and many of them use Google Search. It’s also possible that the traffic is from Chinese users who are using a VPN to access Google Search.

While Hong Kong and Macau have distinct locations, they are both Special Administrative Regions of China. So users from these regions might also show up as “China” in your Search Console data.

Keep in mind that these are just possibilities. To get a better understanding of your traffic from China, you could use Google Analytics to track the behavior of your visitors.
