Should I stop investing in acquiring backlinks from high authority less relevant sites?

As a developer, I am looking to increase the authority of my side projects through SEO. I am considering writing technical articles on high authority websites discussing how I implemented certain tech/features in my apps and linking back to them. I believe this could be beneficial due to the high domain ranking of these websites, but I am unsure about the relevance as they are technical sites with limited overlap with my audience/niche. I would appreciate input from experienced SEOs on whether this strategy would be effective. Thank you.

It is generally considered beneficial to acquire backlinks from high authority websites, even if they are not directly related to your niche. These links can help increase your overall domain authority and improve your website’s ranking in search results. However, it is important to ensure that the links are natural and relevant to the content on the high authority website. Forcing links into content can be detrimental to your SEO efforts. While these links may not be as powerful as niche-specific ones, they can still provide a boost to your overall authority.
