Search console help

"Hello everyone, I am having trouble getting my main site URL indexed. I am new to this, so I will do my best to explain the situation.

I started my website on WordPress and added it to Google Search Console. However, I am facing an issue with indexing my main URL. Currently, I have 0 pages indexed and 1 not indexed. I received a message saying that my ‘page with redirect’ validation passed, but a new error has emerged regarding ‘redirect error’ that also needs validation.

When I inspect the URL under the ‘URL Inspection’ tab, it says that the URL is not on Google and prompts me to fix the redirect error from earlier. The page indexing section shows that there are no sitemaps detected and no referring pages, even though one of my sitemaps out of two passed the status.

I am also unable to view the page speed insights, as the overview and performance sections show no report. I feel stuck in this loop and believe that getting my site indexed will help me drive traffic. Unfortunately, I cannot add images to illustrate my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated."

There are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue and get your main site URL indexed:

  • Verify your sitemaps: Ensure both your sitemaps are correctly submitted to Search Console and that they are accessible by Google. You can use a tool like Google’s Sitemap Validator to check if your sitemaps are valid.
  • Check for redirect loops: The “redirect error” message suggests that your site might be caught in a redirect loop. This means that your website is constantly redirecting to itself, preventing Google from accessing and indexing your pages. Use a tool like the Chrome DevTools Network tab to analyze the requests and responses for your site to identify any redirect issues.
  • Address the “page with redirect” validation: While the “page with redirect” validation passed, you should still investigate the “redirect error” and ensure it’s resolved. This could involve checking your website’s .htaccess file for any incorrect redirect rules or ensuring that all internal links are pointing to the correct destinations.
  • Submit your site for indexing: You can submit your main site URL directly to Google Search Console under the “URL Inspection” tab. This will manually prompt Google to crawl your page.
  • Wait for Google to crawl your site: Google’s crawlers will need time to visit your site and index its content. You can monitor the “Index Coverage” section in Search Console to see if Google has started crawling your site.
  • Review your site’s performance: The lack of page speed insights indicates that Google may not be able to fully assess your site’s speed. Ensure your site is optimized for speed, as it is a crucial factor in Google’s ranking algorithms.

If you’re still facing indexing issues after addressing these points, consider seeking help from a web developer or SEO specialist. They can perform a more in-depth analysis of your website and provide targeted solutions to your specific problem.
