NYTROSEO, task scam or real SEO job?

Upon recently obtaining my ID at the age of 18, I received a text from someone purportedly from NytroSEO offering me a job and training without much interrogation. I agreed without hesitation and received $50 from them shortly after. They then requested that I send back the same amount. The whole situation seems suspicious to me as they did not provide me with a job title, are paying me in cryptocurrency through Coinbase and communicating with me through WhatsApp. I am unsure if I am being scammed and would appreciate input on the matter.

This situation is highly suspicious and likely a scam. Here’s why:

  • Lack of Job Details: A legitimate company would provide a clear job description, responsibilities, and expectations, especially for a new hire. The fact they haven’t done so is a red flag.
  • Cryptocurrency Payment: While cryptocurrency use is growing, it’s unusual for a company to pay new employees in this manner, especially without proper documentation or explanation. Scammers often use crypto to make transactions harder to trace.
  • Unverified Communication: Using WhatsApp for official business is uncommon, especially when dealing with sensitive information like payment. Legitimate companies usually have formal communication channels.
  • “Send Back” Request: This is a classic tactic used by scammers to test if you are willing to comply with their requests. They might use this “money laundering” tactic to steal more money from you later.

It’s crucial to be cautious: Before engaging with this company further, research “NytroSEO” thoroughly online. Look for any legitimate website, reviews, or mentions on social media. If you can’t find anything, it’s highly likely a scam.

Protect yourself: Do not send any more money to this company. Consider reporting this incident to the authorities and your local fraud prevention center.
