Need Advice on Product Titles

I am currently in the process of establishing my first online store. Over the weekend, I have been adding products to my shop. While inputting product titles, I have been advised by Rank Math SEO tool on WordPress to incorporate power words. Chat GPT also suggests longer titles. Interestingly, my competitors do not use power words and stick to concise titles for visibility on Google. Should I opt for short and to-the-point titles or go for longer, more descriptive titles? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or opinions on this matter.

There’s no single, universally correct answer to the product title dilemma. The best approach depends on several factors, including your specific product, target audience, and search engine optimization strategies.

While SEO tools like Rank Math and AI like ChatGPT recommend power words and longer titles, it’s essential to consider the context. Power words can be effective, but they should be used strategically and not feel forced or unnatural. Overly long titles might be penalized by search engines and can be difficult for customers to read and remember.

Observing your competitors’ practices can be insightful, but remember that they may have different strategies and target audiences. It’s crucial to conduct your own research and understand what works best for your specific products and brand.

Here are some things to consider:

  • Keyword research: Use tools like Google Keyword Planner to identify the most relevant keywords for your products.
  • Target audience: Consider the language your target audience uses and how they might search for your products.
  • Product uniqueness: Highlight the unique selling points of your products in your titles.
  • Readability: Ensure your titles are concise and easy to read.
  • A/B testing: Experiment with different title lengths and keyword combinations to see what performs best.

Ultimately, finding the right balance between keyword optimization and readability is key.
