Most of the members in this community are SEO professionals, whereas I do not have a background in SEO. I have experience in building an ecommerce store for my company and I am attempting to handle most of the tasks myself before considering hiring an agency. My goal is to make the site self-sustaining and ensure that it is user-friendly. Currently, the site is performing well and the return on investment from paid ads is impressive. The website sells HVAC supplies in the UK. As I was doing competitor keyword research using ahrefs, I noticed that most keywords have a Keyword Difficulty (KD) of 0. A few keywords stand out with a KD in the 20s, but they are more general terms that would attract irrelevant traffic. This situation could indicate a few possibilities: either I am not efficient in keyword research, my industry is less competitive than I assumed, or my main competitors are not as strong in SEO as I thought. It is also possible that ahrefs' keyword difficulty scale is not tailored to niche industries. I apologize for asking a basic question.
Keyword Difficulty (KD) on Ahrefs is not always a perfect indicator of actual difficulty in ranking for a keyword. While it can be useful for filtering a large list of keywords and identifying those with a higher likelihood of being competitive, it shouldn’t be solely relied upon. Other factors such as the content quality, backlink profile, and domain authority of the top-ranking websites for a keyword should also be considered. It’s also important to remember that Ahrefs’ KD scale may not be perfectly tailored to every niche industry.
