So I have a fairly simple website for a local service business and to date I've been using the home page as the sales page with copy, testimonials, packages and pricing, and the lead form. I sell a single service with three tiers for a specific niche in one area so I didn't really see the need to have a separate home page from the sales/service page. But today I was doing a bit of a dive and noticed that when my website pops up in SERP’s, the page title says “MY WEBSITE TITLE - Home”. Obviously that’s not great for the CTR since it gives no context to what they’re clinking on. (Any tips on how to customize that without messing up the dropdown menus on the site in wordpress would be helpful.)
But anyway it got me wondering if having the home page as the main sales/service page was detrimental to seo? Any thoughts?
Having your homepage as your main sales/service page may not be ideal for SEO. The title “MY WEBSITE TITLE - Home” in your search results is not very informative and may reduce click-through rates. It’s important to have clear and descriptive titles that reflect the content of the page.
While using the homepage as a sales page might seem convenient for a single service with limited content, a dedicated landing page specifically for your service can be more effective for SEO. This allows you to optimize the page title, meta description, and content specifically for your service, leading to better search rankings and user engagement.
Additionally, having a separate landing page allows you to track conversion rates more effectively. You can measure the performance of your sales page and make data-driven improvements to optimize your marketing efforts.
