Google ShadowBan

Hello everyone,

I mistakenly created a Google Business account without realizing it is only meant for businesses with physical locations. This resulted in my business being linked to my personal address on Google Maps. I requested to have this removed by providing feedback and asking for help.

The business was successfully taken down, but my business profile was suspended for violating the Terms of Service. This profile was created using my Shopify email and included my website domain.

Now, when I search for my business name, my website does not appear in the results. I am wondering if this is a temporary shadowban, or if I should create a new domain/email address. Any advice would be appreciated.

It’s possible that you’re experiencing a temporary shadowban. While Google doesn’t explicitly use the term “shadowban,” the suspension of your business profile and the absence of your website in search results are consistent with such a situation. Google might be preventing your website from appearing in search results due to the violation of their Terms of Service.

Here’s a common recommendation:

  • Wait and see. Often, these types of suspensions are temporary, and Google may lift the ban once they have reviewed your case.

If the issue persists after a reasonable amount of time, you might consider:

  • Creating a new domain and email address. This would allow you to create a fresh Google Business profile that complies with Google’s guidelines. However, it’s important to ensure that the new profile accurately reflects your business and its physical location.

Ultimately, it’s best to contact Google directly for clarification on the suspension and potential steps to regain access.
