Can Google read data embedded in Infogram and Datawrapper tables?

Hello everyone!

I always thought that Google could analyze data embedded in graphics and charts created with tools like Infogram and Datawrapper. However, a coworker recently mentioned that it doesn’t. This came as a surprise to me, so I’d like to get some opinions from the community. I typically use tables and maps in my work.

Thank you!

Google cannot read data embedded within interactive graphics and charts made with tools like Infogram and Datawrapper. Google’s algorithms only crawl and index HTML text. To make table and chart data SEO-friendly, consider these changes:

  • Data in HTML: Put critical data in the HTML of the page.
  • Structured Data: Add structured data (schema markup) to clearly specify and describe the key data points on your page.
  • Text Descriptions: Provide detailed text summaries or explanations of the data in your charts.
  • Embed Tables with Data Captions: When using tools like Datawrapper that support embedding, add data captions or alternative text wherever possible to give search engines something to read.
