There is a blog that is not the same topic but is the same audience as mine that has a directory of small UK businesses. It seems to be a smallish but carefully curated list. Not those directories of 10k links. They are offering a listing for £15 with a description of my site and a couple of photos. Importantly there is a link to my site. However, the button is just “Visit website”. Will this be useful for SEO purposes or am I wasting my money?
A backlink with a generic “Visit Website” anchor text is not as effective as a backlink with a more specific and relevant anchor text, but it is still better than no backlink at all. It can also help to diversify your backlink profile, making it look more natural to search engines and avoiding potential penalties for over-optimization. While it may not be the most ideal option, it can still be a worthwhile investment if the listing is on a relevant and well-curated directory. It is essential to compare the price and value of this link to other options available and decide whether it is a worthwhile investment for your budget.
