Where is my traffic coming from?

Hello,

I recently posted a blog article that has received a significant amount of traffic, becoming the third most visited page on my website. Despite this, it has not ranked highly on Google search results. I suspect that someone has shared the page on social media or linked to it. Is there a way for me to determine the source of this traffic? I have already checked my backlinks on Search Console and Ubersuggest, but have not been able to find any relevant information.

You can use Google Analytics to determine the source of your traffic. This tool provides detailed information about where your visitors are coming from, including social media, search engines, direct traffic, and referrals. By examining the data for your blog article, you can identify the specific sources that are driving the majority of your traffic.

If you’re not seeing any relevant information in Google Search Console or Ubersuggest, it’s possible that the traffic is coming from a source that isn’t tracked by these tools. For example, the traffic may be coming from a private Facebook group, a newsletter, or a website that doesn’t have a strong SEO presence.

To further investigate the source of your traffic, you can also:

  • Check your website analytics for specific traffic sources. Look for patterns in the data, such as a sudden spike in traffic from a particular source around the time your blog article was published.
  • Reach out to your social media followers and email subscribers. Ask them if they have shared your blog article or linked to it on their websites or social media pages.
  • Monitor your website for mentions of your blog article. Tools like Google Alerts and Brand24 can help you track mentions of your website and content across the web.

By using these methods, you can identify the source of your traffic and understand how to further promote your blog article and drive more traffic to your website.
