Hello, everyone,I recently purchased a domain for $100 a couple of weeks ago from catch.club. The domain has a good backlink profile with 1% spam score, DA34 PA30, 22 years old, and still indexed. However, there is a mistake with the domain having spammy anchor text, with 3.6k (72%) dofollow links from 47 (11%) referring domains. Despite creating a page with an easy keyword, it is not showing up in search results. The domain has backlinks from archive.org, npr.org, 3 educational websites, and over 70 domains with DA over 70.
After researching, it seems that the spammy anchor text “Fanatical Apathy” may be the reason for the lack of rankings. I would appreciate any advice or guidance on how to remove the 3.6k “Fanatical Apathy” anchor text from my domain.
Thank you for your help and support.
It is difficult to remove spammy anchor text, especially when it’s spread across many referring domains. Focus on building new, high-quality backlinks with relevant anchor text. This will dilute the impact of the existing spammy anchor text over time. Consider these strategies:
- Diversify your anchor text: Use a variety of anchor texts that are relevant to your website’s content and target keywords. This will help Google understand the context of your website and improve your ranking.
- Reach out to website owners: Contact the owners of websites with spammy backlinks and politely request them to remove or update the link. This may not always be successful, but it’s worth a try.
- Disavow backlinks: If you can’t remove the spammy backlinks, you can use Google Search Console’s Disavow tool to tell Google not to consider them. This should help mitigate the negative impact of the bad anchor text.
- Focus on content quality: Create high-quality, engaging content that is relevant to your target audience. This will naturally attract more backlinks with relevant anchor text, further improving your ranking.
While it may take time, a consistent strategy of building high-quality backlinks and creating great content will eventually overcome the negative impact of the existing spammy anchor text.
