The home page is indexed, and all the other pages, but the most important products page isn't indexed when I do a site:websitename.com search on Google. And I’m not sure why. It doesn’t have woocommerce or any ecommerce plugins on it, or anything fancy, it’s just a page of product information with a contact form (which is also on the home page).
What are the most common reasons for this non-indexing?
The most common reasons for a page not being indexed by Google are:
- The page is not unique enough. Google may consider the content, images, and headings on the page to be too similar to other pages on the site, and therefore not worth indexing. To resolve this, try to make the content more unique by adding new text, images, and headings, or by rewording parts that are similar to other pages.
- The page is not high enough quality. Google may consider the page to be of low quality and therefore not worth serving to searchers. Check Google Search Console to see if the page is marked as “crawled but not indexed.” If it is, you may need to improve the quality of the page by adding more unique content, improving the user experience, or fixing any technical issues.
- The page is blocked by a robots.txt file. Check your robots.txt file to see if the page is being excluded from indexing.
- The page has a noindex tag. Check the page’s HTML code to see if it has a noindex tag. This tag tells Google not to index the page.
- The page is considered a canonical. Google may consider the page to be a duplicate of another page on the site and therefore not index it. To resolve this, you need to change the content of the page so that it is not a duplicate of another page.
It is also important to check Google Search Console to see if the page is being crawled. If it is not being crawled, you may need to submit the page to Google manually.
