Should I use Google disavow on the previous domain owner's backlinks?

Hi,

I purchased a domain that I’ve been using for an online store for about 4 months now, and I’ve been pumping out backlinks, but I’m only seeing the previous domain owner’s backlinks in Google Search Console and bing webmaster tools.

Should I use Google disavow on the previous domain owner’s backlinks? They ran a blog, and I’m running an e-commerce store but in the same category.

It’s generally not recommended to disavow backlinks from the previous domain owner unless they are clearly spammy or low-quality. The previous owner’s backlinks may still be valuable, especially if they are relevant to your current website’s niche.

If you’re seeing the previous owner’s backlinks in your Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, it’s likely that they are still pointing to the domain, even though you now own it. You should analyze the backlinks and determine if they are relevant and high-quality. If they are, then there’s no need to disavow them. If you find that many are spammy or low-quality, you could consider disavowing them.

Instead of disavowing, focus on building your own high-quality backlinks. It’s best to prioritize building natural backlinks from authoritative websites in your industry. This will help you establish authority and improve your search engine ranking.
