Pages not indexed in Goole Search Console

Hello,

I’m relatively new to website and SEO (started in December with a website/blog about Japan). I feel I’m still scratching the surface of course, and I wish to dig deeper.

At the moment I have 1 main question, regarding the Google indexing.

I registered the website months ago on the google search console. Today I have several pages that results:

  • SCANNED but not indexed

  • DETECTED but not indexed

A bunch of not indexed pages are articles from the site, in the same form of other articles that result indexed.

I’m wondering why Google fail to index pages?

Is there something I must do to make them indexed? Or should I wait for Google to proceed ?

Thanks

It’s common for pages to be scanned or detected but not indexed by Google. There are several reasons this might happen:

  • New website: Google might take some time to crawl and index a new website.
  • Technical issues: Issues like broken links, slow loading times, or improper meta tags can hinder indexing.
  • Content quality: Duplicate content, thin content, or content deemed irrelevant or low-quality might not be indexed.
  • Robots.txt: If your robots.txt file blocks Google from crawling certain pages, they won’t be indexed.
  • Manual actions: Google may have taken manual action against your website, preventing indexing due to violations of its webmaster guidelines.

To improve your chances of getting pages indexed, consider:

  • Submit your sitemap: A sitemap helps Google understand the structure of your website and identify all your pages for indexing.
  • Improve technical SEO: Address any technical issues like broken links, slow loading times, and improper meta tags.
  • Create high-quality content: Ensure your content is unique, informative, and relevant to your target audience.
  • Promote your content: Share your content on social media and other platforms to increase its visibility and drive traffic.
  • Use internal linking: Link between your pages to help Google understand the relationships between them and improve crawling.

If you’ve implemented these steps and your pages are still not indexed, you can submit them individually for indexing in Google Search Console. You can also check for any manual actions against your website in Search Console.

While waiting for Google to index your pages is an option, actively addressing these issues will significantly improve your chances of getting your content indexed faster and achieving better search engine visibility.
