Domain expired so I lost my ranking - HELP!

My domain was fine until Google Domains sold to Squarespace. In this transition something went wrong and Squarespace domains expired by domain and there was a bunch of technical errors on their end which caused me to unable to renew. Their customer service team is very slow but with alot of difficulty, I was able to transfer out of Squarespace to a different registar and now my domain is back up working again.

However, Google Merchant Center reached out to me today and said they suspended my website because no products were listed. I guess since my domain was expired for a few days, they now removed my website from my niche’s keyword search.

Does anyone have any tips or what can I do to rank again?? I’ve been very stressed trying to resolve domain issues that were out of my control and now I have to deal with this T_T

I’m thinking my next steps are:

-request google to review my website again

-update product pages, reviews, etc.

-create & post seo friendly blog posts

Any help at alll is appreciated!

It’s understandable that you’re feeling stressed. Losing your domain and subsequently seeing your website suspended from Google Merchant Center can be disheartening. Your plan to request a review from Google is a good start. Here’s how you can improve your chances of getting your website back in Google’s good graces:

1. Request a review from Google: Submit a request through Google Merchant Center to review your website. Make sure to clearly explain the situation, including the domain expiration and subsequent renewal.

2. Update your product pages: Ensure your product pages are comprehensive and up-to-date. Include high-quality images, detailed descriptions, and relevant keywords.

3. Focus on your content: Create fresh and SEO-friendly blog posts that are relevant to your niche. This will help demonstrate to Google that your site is active and provides valuable content.

4. Check your technical SEO: Make sure your website is technically sound. This includes factors like website speed, mobile-friendliness, and proper use of structured data.

5. Engage in outreach: Reach out to potential customers and influencers to build brand awareness and generate backlinks to your site.

Additional Tips:

  • Patience: It might take some time for Google to reindex your website and restore your rankings.
  • Monitoring tools: Utilize tools like Google Search Console to monitor your website’s performance and identify any issues that may be hindering your rankings.

While getting back to your previous ranking might take effort, it’s definitely achievable. By following these tips and demonstrating that your website is back online and providing value, you can improve your chances of regaining your search visibility.
